Family Law Mediation

Ending a marriage or resolving a child custody dispute or other family law matter can be difficult, not only from a financial standpoint but also emotionally. To that end I offer family mediation services wherein I act as a mediator between the parties. As a mediator, I do not provide legal advice, but I help the parties to communicate and discuss complex family problems. Mediation is a viable alternative to a costly and time consuming contested legal proceeding. Unlike litigation, mediation offers parties the ability to actively participate in resolving their family matter by negotiating a resolution in a structured and controlled environment. My extensive mediation and alternative dispute resolution training, coupled with my experience as a family law attorney provides me a unique ability to garner cooperation among parties in an effort to resolve family issues.

Agreements reached in mediation are more likely to be followed, since both parties have control over the outcome. A Court order takes away the parties’ decision making power and puts a third party in control of the situation. Mediation reduces the stress caused by countless trips to the Courthouse and lengthy Court hearings, since most mediations occur in the comfort of my office.

My professional mediation qualifications include completion of domestic (family) mediation training with Community Mediation Services, Columbus, Ohio; Basic mediation training through the Franklin County Domestic and Juvenile Court, Franklin County, Ohio; Mediator for the Franklin County Juvenile Court Victim-Offender Mediation Program; and an approved Franklin County Domestic Court Mediator.

My extensive mediation training coupled with my hands-on experience as a practicing family law attorney provides me with a strong foundation for success at mediating family law issues.
